Brand new eyes!

I had contemplated getting Lasik for many years. I had determined a long time ago that I would trust no one but Dr. Lewis as my eye doctor, but I wasn't sure if I could afford the procedure. But after personal contemplation and talking it over with my husband and others who were thrilled with newfound 20/20 vision, I knew I couldn't wait.

Dr. Lewis' office was very helpful as I lined up my financing and got all of my appointments scheduled. The next month was full of anticipation as I grew tired of wearing my glasses and increasingly excited to live without them!

The office staff and Dr. Lewis were so wonderful throughout the process; I can't stress enough how confident I felt with their services. They are always great with questions and cordial during every phone call and office visit. Because of my confidence in the team, I was only a little nervous for the procedure. Instead, I was so excited that I was going to change my life drastically!

I now enjoy 20/15 vision and I'm loving every minute of it. With a toddler, I can jump up in the middle of the night or early in the morning without having to worry about glasses or contact lenses. Even getting ready for bed at night WITHOUT having to take out my contacts feels like time I've won back.

I would highly recommend Lasik and Dr. Lewis to anyone. I also recommend doing it as soon as possible; it's that many more days, months and years to enjoy your vision.

Thanks, Dr. Lewis, and all of your staff - you have another satisfied patient!

Cheers,
Alicia Hassinger

Awesome Vision after LASIK

My name is Mike Mohr and Dr. Lewis performed LASIK on my eyes for my astigmatism 3 weeks ago. The results are remarkable and I love not having to wear glasses anymore. I have especially noticed how clear my vision is when skiing . I used to struggle with making out the terrain on the mountain especially in flat light .... now the terrain is crystal clear and I am not wipingout as much : ). I would highly recommend LASIK to anyone who is thinking about it. Dr. Lewis and his staff are awesome and they will walk you through the entire procedure. I was amazed that I only felt a little pressure and not pain during the procedure. Thanks to the entire Cherry Creek Eye staff and Dr. Lewis for all their help!

ReStor multi-focal lens-replacement surgery for both eyes

Over the course of the past 15 months I underwent lens-replacement surgery for first my left eye, and, more recently, my right. In both cases I opted for the ReStor multi-focal lens. Before surgery my vision was myopic (20-200+ in both eyes), presbyopic (I'm 62), astigmatic, and somewhat occluded by cataracts. Today my vision is a crystal bright ~20-20 in both eyes and for most things I need no glasses whatsoever. Due to a slight lingering astigmatism, small text is sometimes difficult to read, especially in dim-light situations, so I still utilize reading glasses for extending reading and when working at the computer. The surgery was quick, practically painless, and healed remarkably soon. Dr. Lewis is a compassionate, consummately competent professional who immediately engenders trust and ease of mind. He takes the time to get to know you as an individual and to address any concerns and answer any questions you might have. He seems to take a distinct pleasure in the services he provides and the magical results his skilled hands bring about. I would heartily recommend Dr. Lewis and all the friendly folks at Cherry Creek Eye Clinic to anyone thinking about having similar corrective surgery.

Hi my name is Florence and five weeks ago Dr. Stuart did Cataract Surgery on my left eye and I didn't really know how bad my eyes were until than. When I came out of surgery and I could see how bright everything was and only than could I see how bad the right eye was. Two weeks ago he did the right eye and has given me the greatest gift ever. There is no way to say Thank You for what you have given me. I want to tell everyone that the trust that I had in Dr. Stuart was never a question and for that I am very greatful. I can see because of him, and that even after him telling me how bad the Cataracts were I didn't know how much sight I really was missing. I will always pass his name on to anyone who will listen. Again my sincere thanks for what you gave me back.

Update on ReStor Lens & Cataract Surgey

All: I had my left eye repaired approximately 2 months ago with the removal of a cataract and the implanting of a ReStor multi-focal lens and wrote a Blog on September 24. I stated that if it went well I would return for the right eye. It has gone well and I'm one day out of cataract surgery with a replacement ReStor Lens in my right eye. My observations the second time around are: I had a lot less fear; both Dr. Lewis and I learned from the 1st surgery that I needed an anti-nausea drug and less dilation of the pupil; and I had minimal negative surgical effects and no nausea this time around + I suffered no headache this time around-- quite frankly, the negative effects of the first surgery were not severe and they all passed within 12 hours. How about the rest of it? My vision in my right eye instantly improved to 20/20 once the patch was removed and I think it is going to get better-- the eye is still healing. The two corrected eyes are working perfectly together and I see no transitions from near to far vision. I can read the small print on the back of a Sweet & Low packet with either eye. The first surgery went great but having both eyes corrected is even better. Dr. Lewis enjoys what he does; is successful at it; and I'm better off for it. What do you think, should I take up golf again?

12 10 09 - Update: It has been nearly a month since the 2nd surgery. Everything is doing fine. My vision is as good as it was as a youth and the clarity/definition of images is amazingly sharp. I'm glad I did it.

eye operation results

It is very nice to receive 20/20 with my new lens. no more glasses. very glad to have a progressive eye doctor that made recommendations for implanting my new lens that other doctors are reticent to use. My eye site is a most cherished item and I am glad Dr Lewis was the person I entrusted it to. And the extra cost for his recommendation???- means nothing compared to again, being 20/20

Amazing results

I recently came to Dr Lewis with 20/200 vision in my left eye and 20/400 in my right eye and had lasik done. One month later i am 20/20 in my left eye and 20/30+ in my right eye. This is incredible that my vision is this good. I am now more confident when driving at night and any other activity that i was restricted by my horrible vision. The staff are all friendly and helpful and Dr. Lewis is the only Doctor i would have trusted with this procedure. Please dont let cost be a reason to not have this procedure done by the best team of eye staff in the state. ITs your eyes and you only have one chance when doing this , so please use the best if you want the best results thanks Dr. lewis and Staff.

Amazing!

Recently had Lasik done on both eyes. I am totally amazed at the procedure and the results. Dr Lewis and his staff are excellent at what they do! No pain during the procedure and only minor discomfort for a couple of hours afterwards. I would do it again and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone considering this procedure. IT WAS AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE. Thank you Dr Lewis, Sue, Rob, Lee and staff.

Mulitfocal lens replacement

My name is Robert Byggere. I am a reired airline pilot. I recently noticed a blurred vision in my left eye that I had not previously noticed. I had an eye exam by Dr. Lewis and it was confirmed that I had a cataract. I had been considering lens replacement for some time as I wanted to reduce my dependence on reading glasses and wanted to keep my 1st class flight physical. Dr. Lewis reccomended the mutifocal lens procedure which gives both near and far vision. My procedure was done on a Thur. It was completely painless and I even carried on a conversation with Dr. Lewis. The next morning when Dr. Lewis removed the protective patch on my eye I could notice immediate improvement and have continued to see improvement over the last three weeks.
I have had no side effects of any kind, such as the "halo" effect around lights at night. I am extremely pleased with the results and would highly reccomend it to anyone considering vision improvement.
Signed,
Robert A. Byggere

Wonderful!

I had lasik done by Dr Lewis about 2 years ago. What a difference! I was nervous but the procedure was quick and painless. Dr Lewis is very thorough and checks and re-checks all his information several times prior to surgery, which I found very comforting. I would recommend Dr Lewis to anyone interested in lasik or as an all-around good eye doctor.

ReStor Lens Surgery

All: Just short of 2 weeks out from cataract removal and lens replacement on left eye with Dr. Lewis using the 3rd generation ReStor lens. Surgery was without pain and surrounding eye tissue had minimal swelling when patch removed 16 hours after surgery. Vision was immediately improved and tested at 20/20 in the left eye. Correct, 20/20, the same vision I had for most of my life until the aging process took over about 6 to 7 years ago. You really don't appreciate what your missing when you are getting by on 20/40 vision-- that's what I had pre-surgery-- you think it is OK but with 20/40 you miss the details and fine lines and lots of clarity like seeing all the leaves on a tree rather than a clump of leaves without much definition. It has been a joy to not have to need reading glasses everytime I need to read something. I probably will find at least 12 pair of reading glasses between my home, car and office. Now for the right eye. Yes, I'm going ahead with similar surgery on the right eye. I decided to hold up the surgery for 3 to 4 weeks so that I am completely weaned from the required daily eye drops as instructed and will have my surgically repaired eye checked one additional time after the cessation of eye drops to make sure it continues to function as it has been the past 2 weeks. Frankly, it is annoying to have my right eye vision so much weaker than my repaired left eye. I think the surgically repaired left eye is doing nearly all the work since I am getting the improved vision with both eyes open. I do put my hand over each eye from time to time to check the differences in vision. I suspect everyone who has been through this does the same. Besides the HUGE fear of knowing Dr. Lewis would be operating on my EYE, there really is very little for which to be negative. I'm glad I went ahead with it and hope the weeks ahead will be as successful as the past two weeks. David F

Results of LASIK Surgery from the Past

Dear Dr. Lewis,

I really appreciate that you were able to do laser surgery on my eyes several years after I had had it done the first time years ago. I know it took great expertise to do the second surgery, but without it I would have had to wear glasses all the time (my eyes had deteriorated).

My eyesight has been excellent since the second surgery. Thanks for simplifying my life.

Sincerely,
Joanne Sanfilippo

My Journey

Two months ago I was given the news...cataract surgery would have to be done! This had been a fear of mine since my Mother had her cataract removed unsuccessfully 40 years ago.

I proceeded to have my two day "pity party" and decided to handle this situation as I always do. Hope for the best and plan for the worst. I figured worse case scenario was I would be blinded as my mother had been and I would never be able to move to Denver to be with my son and granddaughter (both had been urging me for some time).

Having visited Denver many times, my favorite area is Cherry Creek. So I checked out ophthamologists in that area and found Dr. Lewis (my angels were definitely working the internet for me). I called and made an appointment, moved, found an apartment...all within 3 weeks. After receiving the keys to my apartment I had one week before my movers would arrive. I checked out Dr. Lewis' office...only 4 blocks from my apartment.

Sitting in his office I noticed the plaque stating he was voted one of the top ten doctors in CO. Was I blessed or what?

I had my surgery yesterday. Although I was extremely nervous, the entire staff embraced me both emotionally and physically (lots of hugs). The last thing I remember is the anesthesiologist saying this may sting a little as she was putting a shot in my IV. The next thing I remember is the doctor putting tape over my bandage.

I had no discomfort or pain last night. This morning I went to Dr. Lewis for my post op visit.
My eyesight is 20/20, and my pressure is perfect.

I cannot believe after all my scary thoughts that I have been so blessed.

Thank you Dr. Lewis and your wonderful staff.

Cataract surgery results

I'm a long time patient of Dr. Lewis and a 58 year old dressmaker. I work with expensive fabrics both in tailored goods and bridal/formal wear. I'm in high season (spring/summer) and when I learned that I had a sudden and worsening case of cataracts in both eyes, it was imperative that I get surgery quickly.

I was able to select the multi-focal vision lens which has had resoundingly successful results. I finally had one of those hallowed "I can see" moments as the patch came off first the right eye and a week later, the left. After the first surgery, I could thread my needles in a millisecond as I had done before the eyes deteriorated. Now, I'm up to my previous speed of work, up to my newly restored eyes in backed up paperwork, and diligently attacking my weeds and housekeeping that got the upper hand when I couldn't see.

Dr. Lewis advised that my case was difficult as he had to factor the prior Lasik surgery into the game. I also have dry eye issues and being a Type II diabetic, blood sugar issues. He spent extra time doing the calculations to get the lens' strength correct, did the astigmatism procedure and apparently threw in an ultraviolet shield behind the new implants. Whew.

The right eye was the first to go under the "knife". I was nervous with anticipation but not apprehension. The procedure is stunningly easy on the patient with the conscious sedation and quick recovery, though there is recovery needed. Extra sleep, easy going activities and proper nutrition are all good insurance policies. I, however, needed to do fittings immediately, but I was as cautious as possible. The patch came off by 8:05 the next day and I squealed with delight as soon as I could read the 20/25 line.

I could read every street sign on the way home. (Imagine: I was using field binoculars to read street signs before my friends grounded me in the month prior to the surgery). When I arrived home and saw my roses, my pansies, my weeds!, my housekeeping!.......it was a Helen Keller moment.

Now, for some reason, the night before the second surgery, the newly corrected right eye started to blur and has been doing it on and off since then. I'm now 3.5 weeks out from that surgery. So, I'll address it at the one month check up.

There is healing time needed. The clarity of vision makes you want to ignore the lifting warnings, etc. I find each day different, and often it depends on my blood sugars. Sometimes, though, when all is stable, I still experience little light shows on the sides. And my eyes have felt like I have contact lenses in them . And at night, I get the dry eye thing going on. I'll learn more about all of that at the check up. Such small things vs the whole aspect of seeing, reading again, computer work with ease.

I need to call my dentist and tell him how much I love the cosmetic dentistry he did 1.5 years ago to which I had a tepid response. Guess I couldn't really appreciate the smile even with corrective glasses. And, I need to get a cosmetic make over now that I can see what I am doing!

I just love this. I'm bionic!

Finally Contacts that work

I have struggled for years with keratoconus; I have had GP contacts for years and have struggled with them. It was becoming very frustrating wearing them all the time and some times not being able to see clearly.

Now, that is over with the new hybrid contacts that I was fitted with at Dr. Lewis' Office.  I can see more clearly and the contacts are more comfortable than ever.

Lorrie and Becky went way beyond the extra mile to make sure I was satisfied.  I have spent several appointments trying to get the right pair.  They even had the company representative in to get the right contacts for me and it finally paid off.

Thanks Lorrie and Becky

Patients

Dear Dr. Lewis,

Many thanks to you and your marvelous team for giving me such well fitting, precise lenses. I knew it took a few adjustments but the third time was the trick. I never thought I'd be able to get rid of both my reading & distance glasses.

You and your group are warm & welcoming and most of all, patient. It has been a pleasure moving my care to your practice & if I find out the Surgeon General position opens up, I'll be delighted to promote you!

Best,
Sue D.

Remarkable

Dr. Lewis performed Lasik surgery on my left eye in late March. It is a "lazy eye," which I didn't have patched until I was in the third grade, and that was too late. Since my optic nerve never developed and the astigmatism was quite severe. The laser only registers to six units of astigmatism; however, my eye was measured at eight units. Dr. Lewis felt he could possibly tweak the machine to compensate for this severity.

Upon entering the surgical room, I sat down at a slit lamp (microscope). The eye proved to be in great shape for surgery. After being situated comfortably on the table, there were two short procedures done. Of course, I was nervous, so I did deep breathing--Lamaze works great here. The refractive surgery specialist nurse Sue Bauer worked one-on-one with me. Sue has an impressive history of working with lasers, and I felt very confident in her ability. She counted off the seconds. I simply stared at the light, did my deep breathing, and concentrated on Sue counting down the seconds. There was no pain, simply a bit of discomfort. It was quick and easy!

Once I was seated back at the slit lamp, Dr. Lewis was able to tell me the eye had been corrected from 20/400 to 20/50, which was the predicted goal. The pictures on the wall were fairly clear. The post-op visit the next day at the office, confirmed the correction.

I returned two weeks later for a final check-up. Once seated at the auto-refractor, the nurse exclaimed, "Oh!" I quickly asked, "Is that a good 'Oh' or a bad 'Oh'?" She said, "Good!"
Dr. Lewis confirmed the good news with the exclamation, "Remarkable!" The eye had actually become better--from 20/50 to 20/30!

Two post-surgery comments:

1) If you aren't a large person and/or have a finicky stomach, I recommend asking Dr. Lewis or
the nurse about taking 1/2 - 1 tablet of the Diazepam. A half tablet was just enough for me
to feel calmer.

2) Use the shield they give you when sleeping! The tape isn't too terrible to get off your face,
and the shield is quite comfortable as you sleep. You'll rest better not worrying about
rubbing your eye accidentally.

My friends asked me why I waited so long to have this surgery. My reply was simple, "It took me years to find a physician I could trust, who came highly recommended by friends, and who impressed me with his background and compassion. I actually had a technician at an optical store across town tell me their customers said Dr. Lewis is the doctor that other doctors go to for their own surgery.

I'm so confident now in this fine surgeon that I'm actually considering having Dr. Lewis do an implant in my good eye, instead of waiting fifteen years or more for a cataract.

I rarely make recommendations; but, if you were a good friend of mine asking for one, I wouldn't hesitate to tell you, "You'll be in good hands!"

10 years and still PERFECT VISION

I just had my annual eye exam, and as usual my vision is better than 20/20 and my eyes are healthy. In 1999, Dr. Stuart Lewis performed my lasik eye surgery. I never had ANY complications, no halos, no issues whatsoever. To this day, 10 years later, I still see perfectly and have no problems with my eyes. I am so grateful to Dr. Lewis and the level of his expertise. He truly is an expert in this field. I won't let any of my friends or family have Lasik surgery performed by any other doctor.

Thank you Dr. Lewis!!!

Excellent ReSULTS with ReSTOR

I have just completed my second cataract surgery with Dr. Lewis. He recommended the ReSTOR lens which corrects vision at all ranges. I am functioning without glasses or contacts for the first time since I was a child. It feels like a miracle to have my vision restored so completely...the lens is aptly named. I highly recommend this lens to anyone who is weighing their options.
Dr. Lewis and the entire staff are great! The surgery was easy and fast. I had no pain and was seeing 20/20 for both reading and distance the next day. While no one looks forward to cataracts, this is the best possible outcome.
Thank you Dr. Lewis!!!!

Dr Lewis is the MAN!

I had Radial Keratotomy in the early 90's and then developed Cataracts in the beginning of 2008. My primary care physician recommended Dr. Lewis at Cherry Creek Eye, and I went to him hoping to find him mature, experienced and knowledgeable enough to review my condition and recommend to me treatment that would maintain my vision.
It turns out that cataract surgery was the best path forward for me, but the Keratotomy was a complicating factor. Evidently, the Keratotomy weakens the eye, the eye will flex more, making lens selection more difficult and important.
I got the implant in my left eye last November, and the experience was as good as it could have been. I arrived with some fear about the outcome, and some apprehension of the procedure itself: would I be comfortable, would it be painful, would I be treated like an individual, etc. The procedure went quite well, very little discomfort, good feedback from the nurses and Dr L. I went home and took a nice nap and woke up with no discomfort, and great vision. The subsequent 24-Hour check up revealed my vision to be 20/20 in that eye.
60 days later I had the right eye fixed at his Cherry Creek office and the experience was a literal repeat of the first. AT the 24-hour follow-up visit, vision in that eye was about 20/30, but since that time the eye has improved and I am sure it is 20/20 although I have no metrics that would prove that.
I got what I wanted in all respects. My eyes are stable, vision is good, and I am enjoying my life as I did before the procedures were completed. Dr Lewis is an honest, straightforward, knowledgeable, caring, eye doctor, and he has a crackerjack staff.
I would recommend to others Dr Lewis without reservation. He calls it straight, tells you like it is, helps you make the decisions that are right for you, and does excellent work.

Amazing!

I recently moved to Denver, and not knowing many people, had to pick a new eye doctor on my own. Cherry Creek Eye happened to be a place my insurance company recommended, so I decided to check it out. Wow! I got so lucky! Dr. Lewis is fabulous. He discovered that the contacts I'd been wearing were 3x the strength I needed. For years I've had low grade headaches at the end of each day, and my eyes always felt strained and tired. I loathed my contacts, but it wasn't practical for me to only wear glasses. Now my contacts feel great, and my headaches and eye strain are gone! I would recommend Dr. Lewis to anyone, and can promise you'll be in good hands, and will join the list (that must be long) of satisfied customers! The other people who work in the office are just as friendly as Dr. Lewis, not to mention extremely helpful and patient. All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Fantastic Experience with Dr. Lewis and staff at Cherry Creek Eye

I went in for a new contacts perscription and came out with an eye surgery appointment!

Getting LASIK eye surgery was something that I was interested in but had been too nervous about. Going to Dr. Lewis for my contact perscription is one of the best things I've done in my adult life. Dr. Lewis and the Cherry Creek Eye staff immediately impressed me during my initial appointment with their knowledge, patience, and genuine care for their work and for their patients. It was clear to me that this was an extremely professional and experienced office and that impression gave me the confidence to go through with the surgery.
I went ahead and scheduled a surgery appointment and the entire process, from the pre-op appointments - to surgery - to post-op appointments, was nothing short of exceptional.

Highlights for me:
- Knowledgeable, professional, curteous, and patient staff
- Dr. Lewis' resume and high LASIK surgery success rate
- High quality technology
- Dr. Lewis' presence throughout the whole process. My understanding is that with other centers, the surgeon may only be present for the surgery itself - not the pre and post-op appointments.
- The fact that I can wake up every morning with better than 20/20 vision - and am no longer limited by having to accomodate glasses or contacts. It's such an amazing feeling!

I am very proud to have been a patient of Dr. Lewis. I would recommend the Cherry Creek Center to family, friends, and anyone interested in getting top-notch LASIK eye surgery.

Thank you to Dr. Lewis and the Cherry Creek Eye staff for the amazing gift of sight!

Lasik with Dr. Lewis

Dr. Lewis is the rock star of eye surgery. I was scared out of my mind to have elective eye surgery on my eyes but everything went exactly how he said it would and it was a snap to have done. It took about 30 minutes and I was back home napping with 20/15 vision. I think the worst part of the entire experience was having to wear my eye glasses for a full week prior to surgery, gross.

You're great Dr. Lewis, thanks!

Forever Grateful To Dr. Stuart Lewis

I will be forever grateful to Dr. Stuart Lewis and his excellent staff for giving me back the eyesight I have not had since I was 7 years old. (I'm 54 now). I was somewhat apprehensive that cataract and toric lens implant surgery would be fully successful on both of my eyes, and it's great to report that my concerns were totally unfounded. I am overjoyed that I now have close to perfect vision without any contact lenses or glasses of any type. Both of my surgeries, and the post-operative care, have gone very smoothly, thanks to Dr. Lewis' expertise. Last, but not least, I greatly appreciately Dr. Lewis' first rate office staff. I am just thrilled to have "my eyes back"!

A Great Eye Surgery

I can't begin to express my appreciation to Stuart Lewis, M.D. for performing an outstanding cataract and lens implant surgery. I have had poor vision since I was 7 years old (I am now 54 years old), and always thought that I'd have to have very powerful contact lenses and very strong over the counter glasses too! I am amazed and thrilled that I now no longer need corrective glasses or lenses of any type, and that my surgery and post-operative care went as beautifully as it has. I would strongly recommend Dr. Stuart Lewis and his wonderful staff to any individual who is in need of a superb eye doctor.

Lasik Poster Child

I wanted to write and tell everyone the exceptional experience I have had with Dr. Lewis - both with lasik surgery and now with cataract surgery. When I went to Dr. Lewis to discuss the lasik procedure, I was extremely nervous. I had coke-bottle glasses, could see only the very top line of his eye chart and my contacts were giving me a dry eye condition. I knew I needed to do something if I was going to have any kind of good eyesight when I got older. I was in my 40's at the time. Dr. Lewis and his Staff worked with me so closely to help me understand what would happen if I had lasik. The results after surgery were unbelievable. After lasik, I could actually wake up in the morning and see. And now after having cataract surgery in each eye, I can see even better with the new lens implants. I strongly recommend anyone who needs either of these procedures to talk with Dr. Lewis.

Great results

I have worn glasses or contacts since I was very young. My prescription was very strong - without correction, I couldn't recognize faces a few feet away. I had heard about LASIK but was very nervous to do something so irrevocable to my eyes. I began going to Dr. Lewis about 10 years ago after talking to others with similar prescriptions who had seen him for LASIK and had good results. He recommended PRK for me, rather than LASIK, though done with the same laser. It took me a few years longer to work up both the nerve and the money, but I had my PRK done in December 2005.

I was warned that the first few days would be uncomfortable but had underestimated how bored I would be. I couldn't watch TV, couldn't read, couldn't go out in bright sun. That cleared up after a few days and my vision became nearly perfect. I have never had any problems. No halos, blurring, dry eyes, no discernable side-effects. My only regret is not doing it sooner.

Dr. Lewis is a wonderful doctor. He spends time with all his patients, surgical or not. He is personable, knowledgeable and seems very genuine. His staff has always treated me very well. No one in my family is allowed to see another eye doctor, and I recommend him to all my friends.

I am a 58 year old attorney and this is the "Truth and Nothing But the Truth."

I had cataract surgery in March 2008 and my vision at the time of the post op. visit was 20/20 in both eyes.

Dr. Lewis and his staff take a personal approach to each person, I felt like they truly cared about not only my vision, but me as a person.

Initially I was scheduled to have surgery at another facility; however, it did not feel right as I was simply a number, would not even have the chance to meet the surgeon until I was "on the table" and I am so pleased that I made the decision to cancel that assembly line surgery.

Dr. Lewis and staff spent all the time I needed and wanted, I was not rushed and I can truly state without any hesitation, that I am completely satisfied with the result of my surgery and I urge anyone needing surgery to call Dr. Lewis and experience for yourself what I am talking about.

After 23 Years, He's Still My Guy

I have been a patient of Dr. Lewis' for over 23 years. That's right - 23 years. I am not writing to report any medical miracles he performed or surgeries that succeeded because, fortunately, my eyes have never needed a miracle or surgery of any kind. In fact, I have been very blessed over the years when it comes to my eyes, needing only thin glasses and a check-up every once in a while. So what I have to say is hardly exciting, but definitely important for patients who are looking for a new eye doctor in the Denver area. For those of you out there, you should know that, under the care of Dr. Lewis, you would receive top-notch treatment, honest answers to tough questions, and excellent choices. Even during a routine eye exam, Dr. Lewis' attention to detail is impeccable. Whatever your problem may be, there is no doubt in my mind you will leave your visit feeling taken care of and satisfied with your results.

Thanks Doc for all the years of excellent care!

Alcon Toric Lens

Hello
My name is Dave and I had cataracts in both eyes. I also had severe astigmatism in both.
I went to see Dr. Lewis and he told me about the new Alcon Toric lenses , that would be able to correct my astigmatism and get me close to 20/20 without glasses. My eyesight before was about 20/400 in the left and 20/200 in right.
I went with the Toric lenses and have absolutely no regrets , my eyesight is 20/20 right eye and about 20/30 left. I do not need to use glasses to see , what a great feeling after wearing them for 40 years. If you are considering toric for astigmatism , i would highly recommend them , they are more money but it is a lifelong investment.
Good Luck and God Bless

THE WIZARD OF EYEZ

I'm off to see the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Eyez. And I don't have to walk down that legendary yellow brick road to find him. He's in Denver, Colorado where he works his magic at Cherry Creek Eye Physicians and Surgeons in the Cherry Creek Eye Center.

His name is Dr. Stuart Lewis.

Since I had never felt comfortable with the assembly-line feel and impersonal approach of another eye center, I was open to finding another physician for my cataract surgery. When I found Dr. Lewis on the Internet, I was most impressed by the information on his site, as well as the many patient testimonials. An appointment was made and I fully expected that Dr. Lewis would be one of a number of physicians I would visit before making my final decision. However, that was not to be. In fact, that appointment was one of the better decisions of my life.

At our first meeting with Dr, Lewis, my husband and I liked his calm, straightforward and personable manner, but what clinched the deal was when he used the word "picky" to describe the way he worked. He told us of his regard for detail and thoroughness and full utilization of his state-of- the-art equipment and the fact that he insists on a hands-on approach throughout the whole process.

My husband, who is a pilot and extremely safety-conscious and detail-oriented, as am I, looked at me in silent understanding at this point of the consultation, as I informed Dr. Lewis that I wanted him to be my surgeon.

Not only has he chosen his staff well, a reflection of the man I believe, the atmosphere in Dr. Lewis' office is warm, cheerful and welcoming from the moment you step through the front door. Questions and dialog are not only encouraged, but received with genuine caring and courtesy.

In no time at all, arrangements were made and I am now several weeks into recovery. The surgery went without a hitch and the operating room staff were pleasant and efficient. Dr. Lewis' skill and expertise have given me the miracle that is my 20/20 vision, after many years of imperfect sight with contact lenses and glasses.

If you are looking for an eye surgeon - or feel dissatisfied in any way with your current eye doctor - I urge you to give Dr. Lewis' office a call. You won't be sorry.

Dr. Stuart Lewis truly is The Wizard of Eyez.

LASIK review

I am 28 years old and Dr Lewis performed LASIK surgery on my eyes on 04.10.2008. My vision before the surgery was about -7.00. I could not wear contacts before the surgery because I had severely dry eyes.

I had met Dr. Lewis a few times before I decided to have surgery and I became convinced that cares about his patients and is a skilled physician. I respect that he has been educated at prestigious universities, however I did not rely on it for my assessment. It was his thoroughness, dedication and attentiveness that made me feel comfortable with him as my surgeon. I did not feel like I was in an assembly line and that nothing would be left to chance. My impression of Dr. Lewis was strengthened when I assessed his team. Since they were caring, open and genuine, I knew that he had taken the same care to hire them as he took his profession.

From these visits, I was completely comfortable immediately before, during and after the surgery. I was confident in his abilities and character. The surgery was a success and I can now see 20/20 without glasses. My eyes were dry after the surgery for approximately two months. Now they are noticeably better and I think they are less dry than before the surgery.

I have recommended Dr. Lewis to my wife, friends and co-workers. I recommend him to anyone that takes their vision seriously, as he is a consummate professional. I have no regrets.

Toric IOLs

Dr. Lewis recently performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes and implanted AcrySof Toric IOLs to provide monovision correction. I am 57 years of age and had worn corrective lenses for 55 years because of myopia and astigmatism; glasses from age two and a half, hard contacts in my twenties, soft Toric lenses off and on since my thirties. Hard lenses provided good vision with inherent drawbacks and soft contacts were workable when living at low altitudes and humid climates but proved untenable during recent years in Colorado when I used progressive lens glasses full time.

The left eye surgery was done two weeks ago and the right eye was done one week ago yesterday. As reported by others, from the patient's point of view, the procedure was a breeze with just one day away from my work for each eye. Reasonable vision was available immediately and vision was very good after the dilation subsided, one day after surgery. Today my vision is 20/20 in both eyes with the left corrected for near vision and the right for distance. I had experimented with monovision using contacts before my final decision; the real thing is proving to be an easier adaptation.

Key features of my new situation:

* No need for glasses although I will get a set of readers made that may be useful for extended close work.
* My eyes are significantly less sensitive to light.
* Color brightness, contrast and acuity are quite noticeably improved.
* Within a day of the left eye surgery, my distance vision with the left eye (corrected for near vision) was nearly as good as my right eye corrected with glasses.

Summary: "Indistinguishable from magic"

Dear Dr. Lewis

I had a call from your office asking how I was doing following my cataract surgery last week. I'm doing very well.

One of the strange unanticipated advantages is that I can now see to type on my computer without glasses. I notice, obviously, a great improvement in my ability to drive and see at longer distances. Thanks for your wonderful work.

I was greatly impressed by all of your staff members. It was almost fun to come to your office for service. That's the first time that I have ever said that following medical office visits. Tell them that I really appreciated their support and kindness.

Have a Great summer everyone as I think I will because of my better eyesight.

Cordially yours,

Lasik from Japan

Dr Lewis and the Cherry Creek staff;

I just wanted to write a note thanking you for all that you've done for me. It's been more than a month since I've had my surgery and the results have been amazing. What a strange feeling it was realizing that I hadn't left my contacts in when I woke up in the mornings! I had no problem adjusting though, and now I feel as though I never wore glasses at all. So many doors are now open to me that before were closed because of my vision impairment. What really made my experience all the more worth-while was the professionalism, courtesy and genuine interest that you all showed me during my visits to your clinic and the surgery center. You were especially helpful in answering all of my questions and concerns, even though I was overseas! Even though I am in the military, and laser surgery is available and free, I am grateful that I found your clinic and have no regrets with my choice.

I would recommend your services to anyone interested in eye surgery. If you were to show them half the same thoughtfulness and care you have shown me, they would still be in excellent hands! Thanks again!

Blepharoplasty Lid Surgery

"I now know why Stuart A. Lewis, M.D., Cherry Creek Eye Center, was voted by Doctors in Denver as the best eye physician and surgeon, in the area. Dr. Lewis recently performed an upper and lower blepharoplasty on me. It has only been one week since the surgery and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. He did a fabulous job, and I experienced little discomfort. I would recommend him to anyone considering this surgery, whether it be for medical or cosmetic purposes. He certainly is the best eye physician and surgeon, in Denver."

Recent Cataract Surgery - Dr. Lewis

I had cataract surgery on one eye a week ago today and I can't tell you how excited I am. I put it off for a couple of years, not knowing what to expect. The operation was a "piece of cake" and the next day found out that my vision in that eye is now 20/20!!!! Dr. Lewis did a great job so I have now scheduled to have the other eye done. So if you have been putting this off like I have, give Dr. Lewis a call so he can take care of it.

iLASIK Results

Dr. Lewis and everyone at the Cherry Creek Eye Physicians and Surgeons, P.C. at the Cherry Creek Eye Center:
I wanted to write and say thank you for the great experience I had with the Intralase Laser Surgery I had last October. As you know, I wanted LASIK for years, but had an intense fear of going under the blade. Even after hearing about the Intralase process last year I was nervous (to say the least). Over the summer, when I couldn't swim with my two young kids because I didn't want to lose my contacts, I finally decided to place my trust in you and give it a go. Let me assure anyone out there who wants this procedure but is afraid - just do it! The results are absolutely amazing. I could see 20/20 in one eye the very next day and within four days both eyes were perfect. I love waking up in the morning and being able to see the clock. I love not having dry eyes or worrying about falling asleep with my contacts in. I love not having to wear glasses, or having to remember to pack them when I go on a trip. This is a life changing procedure! Every aspect of the procedure was completed professionally and with high regard to my situation. Never once did I feel uncomfortable or even feel embarrassed about being so scared. Now that it's over, I can honestly laugh at my fear. The procedure is so simple, quick and accurate! I would highly recommend Dr. Lewis and his team to anyone whom is interested in LASIK. In fact, I'm already trying to convert all of my friends and family who are in glasses or contacts! Thanks again for never pressuring me to have the procedure, but for keeping me updated on improvements and the benefits of the process. Thanks for being so patient! And finally, thanks for giving me the vision I have now! If you have any patients who are on the fence, please let them know my story. If I could do it anyone can!
Best regards,
Lara Weiler

Multifocal Implants

Just dropping a note to update you on my progress. I'm doing really well with the new bifocal lens after my cataract surgery. Day vision is really crisp (who knew colors were so bright?!) Night vision is much better than it was, still some halos, but there are less and less of those all the time. I actually have forgotten lately that I even had a vision problem. I have to remind myself that I had the surgery! I guess that's kind of it in a nutshell, really, I went from being legally blind in my right eye, to forgetting I had a problem, over the course of about a month. Not bad. I told my sister, it's like going from looking at an impressionist painting, to looking at a photograph. I can't thank you enough. And your staff through the entire process was superb. Wish that was always how doctor's offices ran! Thank you again.

This is amazing!

I had put off LASIK all these years. I've worn glasses since I was 11, and tried contacts for a few months in my 20s, but always found them to be an annoyance. I finally spoke with Dr. Lewis about LASIK, and he talked with me about the benefits of Intralase, the newest bladeless technology. I decided to try it. I was pretty nervous; after all, it's my eyes!
I spoke with a friend who'd had the original blade-style surgery 20 years ago, and she said it was about the best thing she'd ever done, and knew I would feel the same.
The staff and professionals at Cherry Creek Eye Physicians and Clarity Laser Vision Center were so knowledgeable, friendly, supportive and helpful. The procedure was simple; no pain. And fast! I already see very well, both up close and from a distance, and it's only supposed to get better over the next few weeks! I can't believe I can see well without glasses! What a hoot!! Thanks, Dr. Lewis and everybody!

Care and Concern

During my sixty-eight years, I have been in my share of doctors' offices. The first challenge is trying to get an appointment.

When I called your office yesterday, I couldn't even say I was a regular patient of yours. Nor did I plead or cajole. I merely said I had crusting on my eye lids and that I was leaving for a month. The woman who took my call told me to come in today at 11:45. When I knew snow would slow a few people, I called at 8:30 to see if I could come in earlier. "of course," she said.

You saw me within fifteen minutes. With others waiting to see you, I felt as if you had all the time I needed.

I have given this sentence a great deal of thought and know it to be true. "In my 68 years, I have never experienced the care and concern that I received today."

I look forward to a long relationship!

Problem Solved

In 1997 I elected to have LASIK surgery done at a clinic in Arizona. I decided to do both eyes at the same time to reduce travel to and from Arizona. Two gigantic mistakes! The surgery resulted in everything that could go wrong going wrong. During the next two years the clinic in Arizona tried but couldn't get my vision much past 20/200 with halos and shadows. During the entire time Dr. Lewis was with me encouraging, doctoring and giving advice. When I finally decided enough was enough with the folks in Arizona, Dr. Lewis took over and provided me with careful, calculated, totally professional, eye care that provided and continues to get quality results. When we started together, I was a graphic designer who could no longer see in 3D. Worse than that, if you were a small dog or a two year old child, I wouldn't have seen you in the road. Needless to say, I restricted myself to driving only when absolutely necessary, which was unacceptable. Dr. Lewis went to work, and during countless visits (his patience and his tenacity is endless), he produced unbelievable results and continues to do so today. We started with seeing the big "E" and today I have pretty close to 20/20 vision. I drive, play golf, and ski with no restrictions. I don't think any other ophthalmologist would have given me the care, the consideration, or the encouragement that Dr. Lewis provided. Would I recommend him to others? In a heartbeat! In my 56 years, Dr. Lewis is the finest physician I've had to pleasure and the privilege to meet. I would trust him in any circumstances.

Amazed!

It's been a month since I had my intralase LASIK procedure and I'm so glad I did it. It took me a long time to decide but I figured that the sooner I did it the longer I'd have to enjoy my new vision and I felt I could trust Dr. Lewis. I was nervous. People would give cautionary advice, 'but you only have one pair of eyes...' and honestly, had I been given a detailed description of the procedure I might not have gone through with it. However, the procedure lasted less than 20 minutes total and despite the discomfort and pain, I went to sleep at home and when I woke up several hours later, I could see and the pain was gone. Now, I barely even need lubricating eye drops, I don't see halos (those lasted 2 days), and my vision is better than it was with my contacts. Best of all, I've already forgotten what it felt like to always have to think about having contact lens supplies and/or my glasses. Thank you so much to Dr. Lewis and his staff for taking such good care of me.

"Waited Long Enough"

Dr. Stuart Lewis has been my physician for over 10 years. Every year at my annual appointment we would discuss LASIK surgery and every year I would say, "maybe next year" and "next year" never came.

At my annual check ups Dr. Lewis would always go over all the in's and out's with me in the most professional and courteous manner possible, but maybe it was fear, maybe just apprehension but I never could pull the trigger.

About 7 weeks ago I was in Dr Lewis's office and there were 3 of his patients that had LASIK surgery the previous day. After much discussion and every question you can imagine and the fact that the worst eyesight of the 3 of them was 20-20..... I took it a a sign that my time has come.

Between the professionalism of Dr. Lewis and his entire staff and the fact that they are just so sincere and nice, the cutting edge technology of my IntraLASIK surgery was absolutely a perfect experience.

At 54 years old my eyesight was 20-15 the day after surgery. As a matter of fact, my 27 year old son flew in from Scottsdale last week and also had the IntraLASIK procedure done by Dr. Lewis. Here is a young man that has had to wear glasses/contacts lens since the 4th grade. He called a little while ago, 3 days after surgery and believes his sight is sharper that the 20-15 he tested the day after surgery!!

I know this is a bit long winded but you talk about a life changer!!!

Thank you Dr. Lewis and your wonderful staff. I am glad I waited but I am also sure I waited just long enough!

Ten Years After

In December of 1998, I took a leap of faith and it changed my life.
I had worn glasses since I was 6 and I had been told I was legally blind and had a strong astigmatism -- although with contacts or glasses I could see fine. I am an athlete -- skier, mountain biker, swimmer, tennis player -- and good vision is critical to enjoying these sports. Contacts were a hassle and my glasses looked like Coke bottles. I had looked into RK surgery years before and decided to wait.

Dr Lewis was recommended to me by several people I knew who had successful LASIK surgery performed by him. I decided to check it out -- even though I had pretty much already decided to wait a few years until the technology improved. Dr Lewis informed me that my eyes were at the limit of what LASIK could correct, and further I had thin corneas. What that meant was that we had one shot at the surgery -- no re-dos would be possible. In spite of all this, Dr Lewis inspired confidence in me and we scheduled the surgery. I elected to do both eyes at once. My mom questioned my decision, but I told her 'it just felt right'.

It took all of about 5 minutes and when I walked out of the office I could see perfectly. Later that day I went for a run -- probably not recommended, but no problems. Two days later, I went skiing -- definitely not recommended, but I was careful and again, no problems. In fact, I had literally no discomfort or vision problems AT ALL after my LASIK. I went from legally blind to 20/20 in minutes! As I said, it changed my life -- no contacts, no glasses, all my sports improved and camping got a lot easier!

Ten Years later, I wear drugstore 'readers' (I AM 56, after all!) when I work on my computer or read in low light. My vision is still crisp and clear. Every year when I have my annual visit to Dr Lewis, he checks my vision and remarks "damn, I'm good!" -- I couldn't agree more.

Cataract Surgery and LRI

I had a combination surgery to remove a large cataract and limbal relaxing incisions last Thursday. It was efficient and painless at Cherry Creek Eye Center with Dr. Stuart Lewis. The nurses in the outpatient clinic were stellar, efficient and friendly, helpful and soothing. I had a good experience from beginning to end. I found it miraculous when Dr. Lewis removed the eye patch on Friday and I could see better than I had in two years. I had a retina detachment in the eye two years ago and it has been a long road back from the edge of blindness.

Thanks to the Dr. Lewis, the Cherry Creek Eye Center and Dr. Douglas Holmes who saved my retina in the first place. You are the greatest.
